There has been an excellent response to the first Texworld Istanbul and Messe Frankfurt expects to welcome around 150 exhibitors from 10 countries to the Lütfi Kirdar International Convention & Exhibition Centre from 4 to 6 November 2014.
“The large number of registrations received to date confirms that we were on the right track when we decided to hold a biannual platform in this region for the international textile industry. Now, following Texworld in Paris and New York, Texworld Istanbul is moving into position as a new member of this strong international brand”, says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President, Textiles & Textile Technologies, Messe Frankfurt. The exhibitors at Texworld Istanbul – most of them come from Asia –will reflect the entire market for apparel fabrics and accessories. Moreover, the world’s leading textile manufacturing nations, including China, India, Pakistan, Taiwan and South Korea, will be represented with their own pavilions. Thus, the fair is aimed primarily at buyers and trade visitors from Turkey, the Near and Middle East, Central Asia, Southeast Europe, parts of Eastern Europe and Russia. Olaf Schmidt sees Texworld Istanbul as being the result of a clear development within the brand: “Texworld Paris and Texworld USA have had close links with the Turkish market on both the exhibitor and visitor sides for a long time. The exhibitor polls conducted at both fairs showed a high level of interest in a fair in Istanbul because there is a great demand in the Turkish market for fabric qualities not produced in the country itself.” Turkey is one of the world’s ten biggest textile exporters and holds seventh place when it comes to world exports of garments. According to the Turkish government, the textile and apparel industry turn over around US 28 billion a year. After all, Turkey in general and Istanbul offer excellent geographical advantages for making contact with customers from these regions.
Huge variety of garment fabrics and accessories
The portfolio of products at Texworld Istanbul corresponds with those of the parent fair in Paris and Texworld USA: “Thus, visitors and exhibitors will find the product groups they are familiar with from Paris and have no trouble finding their way around”, says Tayfun Yardim, Deputy General Manager, Messe Frankfurt Istanbul. “Texworld Istanbul will be characterised by a broad product spectrum and optimum value for money.” Pakistan, for example, will present cotton and functional fabrics. Taiwan focuses on blended fabrics, knitted and functional fabrics for leisurewear and sportswear. India, South Korea and Indonesia are represented by lace, embroidery, silk and silky aspects. Additionally, Turkey, South Korea and Taiwan will be showing products for the knitwear sector.
